THE ROLE
Establishment of a supportive relationship with clients to enable them to maximize their resources to sustain their tenancies.
Deliver contracted level of support mutually agreed with client and the referring agency.
Undertake client assessments as directed by the Practice Manager in advance of provision of tenancy support to determine clients needs and to formalise a Care Plan.
Provide clients with appropriate advice on relevant matters (e.g. availability of benefits, money management etc) to support their tenancy obligations.
Provide appropriate support on matters relating to day to day household management including planning and purchasing provisions and the preparation of meals and use of domestic appliances.
On-going assessment of suitability of clients to sustain their own tenancies independently.
Promote creation of working relationships on behalf of clients with appropriate external agencies (e.g. Social Services, Housing Authorities, NHS, DSS etc).
Ensure utility meter readings are taken at the start and end of tenancies and forward these to utility providers.
Complete a full inventory at the start and end of each tenancy items and undertake checks on household appliances on an on-going basis.
Encourage clients to attend the Service Users Group (SUG) and accompany group outings when authorised by the Practice Manger. Provide transport as appropriate and authorised for Service Users attending their first group meetings.
Encourage and support clients to attend education, training and employment related events in line with their Care Plan and agreed by the Practice Manager.
Support and assist clients with budgeting and debt management issues in line with their Care Plan.
Location: West Lothian
Salary:£8.00 - £9.50 per hour depending on experience
Duration:6-8 weeks initially

Our client is currently recruiting for 3 Housing Support Workers to provide appropriate support to individuals in their own homes, who experience difficulties with drugs and alcohol, in the West Lothian area.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Current driving licence & Car is essential
SVQ Level 2 in Social Care
At least two years experience in one of the following fields: health, social work, community work or housing
Ability to manage a caseload
Articulate and able to communicate effectively at all levels
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to use own initiative in prioritising workload
Ability to work alone and as part of a small team
Ability to input into the review and development of internal and organisational policies and procedures
Trustworthy and reliable
Good sense of humour
Clean driving licence and car owner
Basic working knowledge of word processing e.g. Microsoft Word
